The last event at Sunset Speedway saw the return of the #7 of Derrick Tiemersma to racing action. Early in the feature he let the rest of the field know that he was the one to beat. The #7 had built up over a half track lead at times over second place and looked poised to return to victory lane. However as in racing you just never know as an electrical issue sidelined the team with about 10 laps remaining in the feature. The battle then went to the #17 of Kevin Cornelius and the #54 of Mike Beyore. Kevin was looking for his second feature win in 2015, while Beyore was looking for his first series feature win. The two raced hard on the restart and in the end the #17 took the win making it two for two for 2015, with the #54 of Mike Beyore picking up second for his best career finish. Kelly Balson in his #b10 continues his podium run with a solid third place finish. Coming into this event as always the super late models will provide the best side by side high speed racing you will see anywhere in Ontario. Will the #7 finally get that elusive feature win? will the #17 make it three in a row? will the #54 or #b10 pick up their first career OSCAAR feature win? Will Fitzpatrick finally shake that monkey off his back, will four time champion #22 of Glenn Watson return to victory lane? Will it be one of the rookies? These are all questions that will be answered after the hardest 50 lap feature event this Saturday.

HOOSIER Modifieds:IMG_8128

The HOOSIER Mods are fresh off Round 1 of the Rick Woolner Memorial at Full Throttle Speedway, which saw #39 Shane Stickle pick up his first career OSCAAR Mod feature win. The 2015 season prior had seen the #8 of Gary McLean pick up the first two wins of the season at Sunset Speedway. Heading into this weekends’ event the #8 has to be considered an early prerace favorite. There are several other teams that would love nothing more than the keep the #8 of of victory lane. Leading that charge would be “The Iron Man” himself #36 Gary Elliott. Gary put on a great display of racing at the last event after starting near the rear of the field only to find himself celebrating his second place finish at the checker flag. #77 Chad Strawn in the past couple of visits to Sunset Speedway has had one of the fastest cars there, but racing luck has not been on his side. Still sitting fourth in the points the #77 has to be considered a race favorite as well. Rookie sensation #79h Cory Horner has shown he can get the job done with podium finish at Sunset already in 2015, this could be the time where we see a Rookie celebrating in victory lane. Another Rookie has quietly moved into 5th in the points as John Baker JR continues to get more and more comfortable behind the wheel of his mod, this could just be the weekend where he scores his first OSCAAR win. Several teams left Full Throttle, thinking they are glad that race was over. Looking for redemption this week the #88r of Tommy Robb, #47 Brian McLean and #14 Davey Terry will all be looking to return to their winning ways this weekend.

A strong competitive field of OSCAAR Mods are expected this weekend to give the fans some great open wheel racing action!
