After a thrilling event at Sunset Speedway with the return of a champion to victory lane, the OSCAAR Modifieds are set for their 10th event of 2017 – Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway.
Gary McLean made his return to OSCAAR competition in style at Sunset Speedway, picking up the victory. He enters this weekend as the defending event winner, as he won three of the features at Flamboro Speedway last year.
2016 Rookie of the Year Luke Gignac enters the second-last race of the year with a 13-point advantage in the standings with seven top-fives this year, including a runner-up at Sunset. He knows his way around Flamboro as he won the event in June.
A.J. Emms has been strong this season with seven top-fives, but will be looking for a rebound this weekend after having mechanical issues at Sunset. The Hamilton, Ontario track seems to fit his driving style, with four runner-ups over the past two seasons.
John Harper has been up-and-down this year with four top-fives, but managed to pick up a heat victory this past weekend. Flamboro was one of his strongest tracks previously with a win last year in August, but he only has one top-five in three races this year.
Gary Elliott will not be running due to competing for the Triple Crown instead with his Pro Late Model. He will have Rob Di Venanzo behind the wheel of his modified, following Di Venanzo’s third at Sauble Speedway.
David Balych hasn’t had the year he wanted with only three top-10’s this year. He has ran well at Flamboro in the past, scoring a third-place finish last year.
Dale Reinhart currently leads the rookie of the year standings with no finishes outside of the top-nine this year, including three top-fives. Notably, he has only placed outside of the top-10 once in his OSCAAR career to date. In his three previous starts at Flamboro, he has three top-eights, including a third.
Cory Horner will be looking to put himself in contention for another win this weekend after scoring two wins and seven top-fives thus far in 2017, including a fifth at Sunset Speedway. In his last eight starts at Flamboro, he has posted six top-fives, including a runner-up last year.
After enduring some tough luck the past couple of weeks, Tim Tolton will be looking to put himself back up front after posting a track-best seventh in June at Flamboro.
Cliff Hodgkinson will be looking to rebound as Sunset Speedway marked the first finish outside of the top-10 in his OSCAAR career to date. Notably, he finished sixth in his first trip to Flamboro earlier this year.
Another driver looking for a good run will be Jase Cornell following a 15th-place finish at Sunset Speedway. Of note, Flamboro was the sight of his first career OSCAAR top-10 in July.
OSCAAR Midget graduate Wally Wilson hopes to score his second career top-10 following a track-best 12th at Flamboro in May.
Chris Milwain has been up-and-down this year, but will enter this weekend with momentum following a third-place finish at Sunset Speedway. He has proven that he can get the job done this year at Flamboro with a pair of wins.
Matt Barton made his OSCAAR modified return in May at Flamboro, picking up an eighth-place finish. Since then, he has posted a second and an 18th in his following starts.
Aaron McLean will be looking to rebound as he was taken out with a crash at Sunset Speedway. Flamboro was the sight of his best career OSCAAR finish, a sixth in June.
Beyond those mentioned here, there are other drivers that may show-up this weekend so be sure to be in attendance to see these cars in action.
