After success in the Ontario Legends Series, Bryan Batty is ready to take on a new challenge with the Queenston OSCAAR Modifieds.

“With 2019 coming up fast, I am very excited to venture into a new class and take the next step in my career while racing against some of the best racers in Ontario,” he said.

The decision came forth through seeing the growth of the division over the past couple years.

“I have been really impressed with the Modifieds,” he commented. “I love how the Series is growing and improving to be one of the top series to race in at the moment in Ontario.”

Entering his rookie campaign, he is hoping to contend for Rookie of the Year, while seeing where he ranks up in points compared the veterans of the series.

“I think my biggest challenge will be adapting to the big increase in size, weight and horsepower that comes with racing a modified,” he said. “I feel that with all the people helping me and the iRacing I should be able to adapt fairly quickly to the new car and racing styles of the OSCAAR Modifieds.”

However, he knows it won’t be easy, given the level of competition that is to be expected.

“I’m pretty sure anybody that follows OSCAAR knows that Gary McLean will come out and snatch some wins,” he predicted. “I also think Kelly Balson, Cory Horner, AJ Emms and Luke Gignac will be some of the many drivers that will be competing for wins all year long.”

The 2019 schedule will take Batty across the entire province, including a pair of races at his home track, Delaware Speedway.

“I am really looking forward to being back on my home track of Delaware Speedway with all my friends, family and sponsors being able to come cheer our BM 39 team on,” he said.

For Batty, he got his start in racing via growing up around the Whitlock Motorsports shop, due to his dad being a crew member for Dave Whitlock.

“After Dave retired, we started Kart racing in Ohio and Michigan and picked up dozens of feature wins and a couple championships,” he said.

Looking through his career to date, he says it’s hard to pick out a moment that stands out above the rest.

“I’m hoping 2019 will give me a memory that will stand out from the rest,” he added.
