After a successful rookie campaign, Jeff Showler has committed to completing a partial schedule in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds in 2019.
“The plan for this 2019 season is to have fun and do the day trips,” he said. “Our team is committed and look forward to 2019 with the No. 4 Modified.”
Heading into the season, Showler says the goal is to have fun, while hoping to find victory lane. One of the tracks that would be a great feeling to see the No. 4 in victory lane would be the home race at Delaware Speedway.
“A lot of racers and fans would like to think Delaware Speedway is one that I am looking forward to the most,” he commented. “My team would answer Delaware Speedway. However, I personally am looking forward to Flamboro Speedway just simply because it has challenged me the most in the past.”
Showler will begin his season at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 1st.
“We are focused on correcting our weights and applying lessons learned from 2018,” he said. “The modified group is competitive and we would like to be up front just the same and that means working a lot of late nights.”
The modified class was an easy series for Showler to remain involved in, as he credits the various drivers and crew members.
“I feel this class has a lot potential, if not already, to be one of the top divisions in Ontario,” he commented. “The modifieds are so much fun and the group of people that surround our drivers and teams are simply awesome. I am thankful for our racing community that makes our racing family. We all help each other and welcome racers to grow while in the competitive environment.”
Looking at the competition, Showler notes two of the biggest drivers to watch this season were Cory Horner and John Harper.
“I look forward to seeing the No. 18 of Jason Keen upfront most of the 2019 season as a follow up to the 2018’s rookie winner,” he added. “No. 51 of Dale Reinhart and No. 56 of Jason Cornell have both proven to me that they are committed to winning and have over the winter put in the preparation to accomplish their winning goals. To add two more drivers, as only five is very difficult, I would add No. 8 Gary Mclean and No. 36 Gary Elliott to that list. However, the complete field is to watch!”
For Showler, he began racing during the 2001 season at Delaware Speedway, and has since won countless awards and wins at his home track. In addition to the pair of championships and sportsman awards, he notes his 2016 modified victory in his return to racing ranks up there in his memorable racing moments.

“The people that are committed to helping out the No. 4 modified would just simply be too much to list now,” he said. “My crew of Don, Jeremy, Gary, Crystal, Jeffrey, Cale, Dagon are invaluable as they volunteer with myself to make our 2019 car competitive and fun. We thank Zed-Air heating and air conditioning, Ron Ellis Law, both out of London and Specialized Tooling out of Mount Elgin.
