When it comes to racecars, they are all unique and special in their own way. So what stands out about the Modifieds?

“Modifieds are the most fun to be a part of because of the speed,” Andy Kamrath commented. “They’re just as fast as a pro late model without the massive stress and money.”

Since entering into Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified competition, Kamrath has proven to be a force to reckon with as noted by seven trips to victory lane. So it’s no surprise there’s a lot of smiles going into the upcoming 2021 campaign.

“Thoughts going into the season are just to have fun both on and off the track and hopefully get a full season in so we can chase a championship,” he commented.

The speed shined through last year with the London Recreational Racing team, as noted by a pair of trips to victory lane at Sunset Speedway and Jukasa Motor Speedway. In the pair of events he did not win, Kamrath still found his way onto the podium, and scored a top-five in his last 10 series starts.

“The dominance comes from hard work amongst all of the team, but one thing we can definitely do better is taking notes,” Kamrath noted. “We definitely don’t take good enough notes. Also, the driver needs to be a little more patient behind the wheel.”

When everything comes together with driver patience, though, it has resulted in great results. Looking back through the past couple years, Kamrath notes his favourite win would be the 2019 Autumn Colours Classic as “that race is always special to me.”

Notably, though, the track circled on his calendar for 2021 is a place he has yet to win in an OSCAAR Modified – Sauble Speedway. The reason, however, is probably because he has yet to run a series event there and based on his career history, a victory there is very possible. It’s the track he originally cut his teeth at in Jr. Late Models, and has been able to have success in Late Model, Super Stock, and Mini Stock competition.

Despite the confidence, though, it still may ultimately be a challenge given the competition.

“Drivers to watch out for is tough,” he admitted. “Can’t put my name on just one. I know there’s some new names coming in and I think it’s gonna be a stout field throughout.”
