The consistency continued in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It for Wally Wilson, as he once again scored a top-10 finish in the year-end standings.
Wilson started off the year with a 12th-place finish at Sunset Speedway in July, though struggled when the series returned to the Innisfil facility two weeks later. It carried over to his home track of Sauble Speedway mid-August, as he would start deep in the field due to qualifying rained out, scoring a 17th.
Returning to Sunset Speedway to start the four-race stretch to finish the season, he avoided the incidents that happened and made his way forward for a 10th-place finish. Unfortunately, the momentum did not carry to Delaware Speedway a week later.
He would start off Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway strongly with a third-place finish to start on pole for the feature, but he fell back quickly in the early laps, and a mid-race incident relegated him to place 16th.
The finale at Peterborough Speedway saw Wally Wilson Racing face adversity, with trouble striking in practice as he blew the motor in the No. 69. Thanks to John Karley for donating an engine, and help from a bunch of other people outside of his own team, they would stay up late on Friday night to put in the new piece to have him ready to go for Sunday’s feature. He was able to make up some ground after starting tail of the field, finishing 16th.
While the statistics will not tell the full story for Wilson, it was a season of continued improvements. He would show more speed than previous campaigns, as evident by a couple strong heat finishes. If he can continue the trend, the feature placements should improve.
