Andy Kamrath Returns to Victory Lane at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — The time and effort to rebuild the car over the past couple weeks paid off for Andy Kamrath, as he returns to victory lane in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It feature fueled by Touchwood Cabinets on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.

Jason Keen won the first JRS Auctions heat in front of Herb Walters, Luke Gignac, Dale Reinhart, Wally Wilson, Paul Townsend, Scott Beatty, Tommy Robb, and Tyler Liscum.

A.J. Emms won the second qualifier ahead of Andy Kamrath, Steve Trendell, Jake Watson, TJ Edwards, Marshall Schrenk, Mike Hearty, and Max Beyore. There was a quick caution near the beginning of the race for Beyore going for a spin.

The third heat saw a caution for Liscum going around in turn two, followed by another for Trendell and Walters spinning on the backstretch. Andy Kamrath picked up the checkered flag in front of Reinhart, Edwards, Liscum, Townsend, Walters, Beatty, and Trendell.

Luke Gignac won the fourth qualifier ahead of Watson, Schrenk, Emms, Keen, Hearty, Robb, and Wilson.

Come feature time, Herb Walters led the field to green in front of Dale Reinhart, Jake Watson, A.J. Emms, TJ Edwards, Andy Kamrath, Jason Keen, Luke Gignac, Marshall Schrenk, Steve Trendell, Paul Townsend, Wally Wilson, Mike Hearty, Tommy Robb, Tyler Liscum, and Max Beyore.

Dale Reinhart grabbed the advantage on the first lap with Emms slotting into second in front of Kamrath, as Edwards battled Walters for fourth in front of Watson. A.J. Emms then grabbed the top spot on Lap 3, as Kamrath got alongside Reinhart for second, with Edwards and Watson rounding out the top-five.

With four laps on the board, Emms led in front of Kamrath, Reinhart, Edwards, Watson and Keen, as Schrenk and Watson battled for seventh. Schrenk got the spot on Lap 7, bringing Gignac through with him, as Trendell ran 10^th ahead of Townsend, Liscum, and Hearty. The shuffling continued, with Edwards getting by Reinhart for third on Lap 10, and Robb alongside Hearty for 13^th a couple laps later. Keen would then get alongside Watson for fifth on Lap 14 ahead of Schrenk.

At the front of the field, though, it’d be Andy Kamrath taking the top spot on Lap 17 in front of Emms, Edwards, Reinhart, Keen, Watson, Schrenk and Gignac, with Trendell and Walters side-by-side for ninth. Trendell would then slow with a problem on Lap 21, as Beyore made his way down pit road with a problem of his own. This would move Walters into ninth ahead of Townsend and Liscum.

Schrenk would then get alongside Watson for sixth on Lap 23, completing the pass a lap later, bringing Gignac through with him. Schrenk continued to move forward, passing Keen for fifth with 13 laps to go.

A lack of cautions would see the field string out over the final 10 laps, with Andy Kamrath picking up the checkered flag in front of A.J. Emms, TJ Edwards, Dale Reinhart, and Marshall Schrenk.
