With a couple solid runs through the middle of the season, Paul Townsend put together a great season in Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifeds presented by Just Foam It competition to place 10th in the final standings.
He started off the season placing 12th in the opener at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity. He hoped to have a stronger outing at Sauble Speedway, and began the evening well by placing second in his first qualifier. He’d start on the pole for the feature, battling inside the top-10 until going for a spin with 10 laps to go. He rebounded to score an 11th-place finish.
He carried the strong qualifying effort to Delaware Speedway to kick off July, taking the green flag from second. He escaped the big wreck on the opening lap and battled all race long to a seventh-place finish. He returned to Sunset later in July, carrying the consistency with him en route to a 10th.
Although the summer months saw him busy with racing endeavors south of the border, he rejoined the OSCAAR tour at Delaware Speedway in September. He placed fourth in his lone qualifying heat to take the green from second in the feature. He battled within the top-five for the first half of the race, crossing the finish line in seventh.
He did not start off the evening well at Flamboro Speedway a week later, finding himself turned the wrong way in qualifying courtesy of contact. He fought back from his poor qualifying effort, making his way up to 13th by the checkered flag.
He raced inside the top-10 throughout the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway, fading in the final laps to place 11th.
Despite some adversity faced, Paul Townsend was able to continuously rebound and battle his way to a series of consistent finishes in 2022.
