Despite suffering a major crash mid-season, Rob Di Venanzo fought through the adversity to keep running throughout the season.

Di Venanzo started off the season with a solid performance, finishing ninth in the season opener at Flamboro Speedway. He was looking to carry the momentum forward a couple weeks later at Delaware Speedway, but a spin on Lap 8 ended his night early.

The driver of the No. 97 Dixon’s Distilled Spirits, Buffalo Airways, Buffalo Air Wear, Mosiac Investments, Rolmaster Conveyors, Kitchener Auto Body, MRC Wireless and Melow Vibes Tie Dye Modified didn’t give up, though, as he came back the first week of the July with an impressive run at Flamboro Speedway, finishing seventh. He then followed it up with another top-10 at Delaware Speedway, showing promise as we hit mid-season.

Unfortunately, the promise was shortly lived as Di Venanzo suffered a hard crash at Peterborough Speedway’s Chase for the Colours, flipping over on the backstretch. The result was heavy damage to his modified, ultimately resulting in the car being retired.

The perseverance as discussed, though, was shown when Di Venanzo rolled into the season finale at Frostoberfest with a brand new modified, set to compete. The night ultimately didn’t go as hoped with mechanical issues, but it was nice to see the effort put in him by his team.

On behalf of OSCAAR, thank you Rob Di Venanzo for your continued persistence, and support of the division despite the troubles which found you. Look forward to seeing you out more in 2017.
