After a couple strong runs last year, excitement was surrounding the possibility of Chris Milwain reaching victory lane this year. While he wasn’t able to, he put together some solid performances behind the wheel of his No. 21 Modified.
Milwain kicked off his 2016 campaign at Flamboro Speedway in June, in hopes of an impressive run. He ran up front in his heats, including a battle for the win with John Harper in the second heat, before posting a third place finish in the 30-lap feature.
The return trip to Flamboro Speedway in July worked out well in the heats as Milwain scored the first of his three heat victories on the season. Unfortunately, the feature wasn’t as kind as he ran mid-pack throughout the event en route to an eighth.
Milwain was quickly able to get his season back on track, finishing third at Delaware Speedway, followed by a sixth at Peterborough Speedway.
Returning back to his familiar stomping grounds – Flamboro in August, Milwain had a pair of opportunities to make something happen. In the first 20 lap feature, he ran in the top-three throughout the event before passing Luke Gignac on the last lap to finish second. In the second 20-lap feature, he ran fourth for the entire event en route to his fourth top-five of 2016.
Ultimately, his season ended on a bad note, though, with a 17th place finish at Delaware Speedway due to a mechanical problem on Lap 13.
On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations Chris Milwain on your success this season. We hope to see you back out once again in 2017.
