For the No. 11 Modified, an early year driver change paid off nicely en route to a solid eighth in the year-end standings.
Dave Hodgkinson began the season as the driver ready for his rookie campaign, though struggled to find his groove with a best finish of 14th in three starts. With discussions mounting within the team, a decision was made to switch it up.
Cliff Hodgkinson took over the reins entering Sauble Speedway, and the team hasn’t looked back since. Their new rookie impressed right away from the start, posting ninth-place finish at the beach.
Being down on horsepower compared to most really showed at Kawartha Speedway as speed is everything on the half-mile oval. As a result, he only scored a 16th, but that didn’t bring down the spirit. You could actually say it may have motivated them, as Hodgkinson backed it up with three straight top-10’s. He kicked off the stretch with a sixth at Flamboro, followed by 10th at Peterborough, and another sixth at Sauble.
Ultimately, the good luck wasn’t meant to last with Sunset Speedway not going as planned, with a 14th-place finish. But once again, it didn’t slow Hodgkinson down for long as heading back to Flamboro for a second time saw him cross the line in seventh, despite being involved in a mid-race incident.
Hodgkinson then battled hard at Peterborough despite a first lap crash to complete the season with an 11th.
OSCAAR would like to congratulate Cliff Hodgkinson, Dave Hodgkinson, and the entire team on a great season.
