With three top-fives and consistency throughout the year, Dale Reinhart was able to earn Rookie of the Year honors for the 2017 OSCAAR Modified season.
Right out of the gate at Flamboro Speedway, he put together a solid performance, crossing the checkered line in seventh. The momentum carried forward to Kawarta Speedway a week later, as he earned his first heat victory, before running inside the top-10 all feature long en route to an eighth.
Returning back to Flamboro in June, it was evident that continued experience was paying off. He ran inside the top-five all race long en route to a season-best third.
The next couple of weeks saw consistency be the name of the game, as he scored a pair of sevenths and an eighth at Flamboro following a mid-race spin.
The driver of the No. 51 Scott Reinhart Trailers, Frost Chevrolet Buick Cadillac GMC, SGR Pluming, Dunwood Signs and Textiles, Robvale Farms, Baker Performance Modified entered the second half of the year as one of the most talked about competitors, and didn’t disappoint. His first trip to Peterborough Speedway resulted in a fifth, followed by another seventh at Sauble after going for a late-race spin.
The momentum carried forward into the final stretch, running inside the top-five throughout the Velocity 250 en route to a fourth-place finish. He then backed it up with an eighth at Flamboro after being spun with three laps to go.
Unfortunately, the year did not close out how he would’ve hoped as he failed to finish the Autumn Colours Classic following contact on Lap 2.
OSCAAR congratulates Dale Reinhart on his success this year, with a special shout-out for the Rookie of the Year honors. We look forward to continuing to watch you grow as a racer in 2018.
