5th in OSCAAR Mod Points – Jason Keen

A consistent rookie campaign worked in Jason Keen’s favor to allow him to finish fifth in the year-end OSCAAR Modified standings.

Starting deep in the field for the season-opener at Sunset Speedway, Keen worked his way forward throughout the 50-lap feature en route to a sixth-place finish. He’d use the same approach in his first appearance at Kawartha Speedway, once again scoring a top-10 with an eighth. The success followed hi into Jukasa Motor Speedway with a ninth.

Returning back to Sunset Speedway to kick off July, he ran mid-pack throughout the feature this time, scoring an eighth-place finish. Unfortunately, the top-10 streak came to an end with a 13th in the second visit to Kawartha.

Past success at Flamboro Speedway in the Canadian Vintage Modifieds allowed Keen to head there confident, which worked to his favor with a ninth-place finish. The same couldn’t be said for Peterborough Speedway, though, with an 11th-place finish.

The summer trips to Sauble Speedway really showed the potential of Keen and his ability to pick up new tracks. The first event there in August saw him run solidly for an eighth-place finish. Returning back the next month to the beach, he put what he learned to use and scored his first career OSCAAR podium with a third.

The momentum followed him to Sunset, where he’d pick up his first career heat victory, enabling him to start on pole for the 50-lap feature. He led the opening lap, before fading back throughout the rest of the feature, crossing the finish line in fifth. He then ran in the top-five throughout Frostoberfest at Flamboro, crossing the finish line with a fourth.

Unfortunately, the season finale at Peterborough did not go in his favor as contact mid-feature resulted in a 17th-place finish.
