Shawn Chenoweth Breaks Through for First Career OSCAAR Mod Victory

OSCAAR Modified Top 3 at Peterborough Speedway

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Shawn Chenoweth can now say that he has won in another division, after scoring the victory in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd feature presented by The Fyre Place & Patio Shop at Peterborough Speedway.

Kelly Balson won the first heat ahead of Brad Pearsall, Shawn Chenoweth, Gary Elliott, Dale Reinhart, Jason Keen, Craig Scott, and Bob Franks.

A.J. Emms won the second heat ahead of Luke Gignac, Mark Gordon, Anthony DiBello, Jase Cornell, Norman Newman, and Wally Wilson.

Norman Newman won the third heat ahead of DiBello, Balson, Pearsall, Keen, and Wilson.

Mark Gordon won the fourth heat ahead of Chenoweth, Emms, Gignac, Reinhart, Cornell, Elliott, and Scott.

Come feature time, Brad Pearsall started on pole ahead of Norman Newman, Kelly Balson, Luke Gignac, Shawn Chenoweth, Anthony DiBello, Dale Reinhart, A.J. Emms, Mark Gordon, Gary Elliott, Jason Keen, Jase Cornell, Wally Wilson, Craig Scott, and Bob Franks.

Pearsall grabbed the lead off of the initial start ahead of Balson, Chenoweth, DiBello and Gignac, with Emms and Newman side-by-side for sixth on Lap 2. Meanwhile, Franks headed down pit road done for the event. Emms got the spot, passing Gignac for fifth a lap later. Newman would follow suit, with Reinhart moving into eighth ahead of Gordon, Gignac, Keen, Cornell, Elliott, Wilson, and Scott.

Gordon’s strong run unfortunately came to an end on Lap 8 when he made his way into the pits. This allowed Gignac to move up into eighth ahead of Keen, Cornell, Elliott, Wilson, and Scott.

The race appeared to have a green flag look to it as Pearsall held serve, but Balson would begin to reel him in over the long run. As the gap looked to be closing for the leaders, they’d get a chance to restart side-by-side when the caution flew with five laps to go for contact between Emms and Cornell in turns three and four.

Pearsall got a good restart, with Chenoweth alongside Balson for second ahead of DiBello, Newman, Gignac, Emms, and Reinhart. Chenoweth got the second spot, followed by passing Pearsall for the lead with two laps to go.

Shawn Chenoweth picked up the win ahead of Anthony DiBello, Brad Pearsall, Norman Newman, and Kelly Balson. Luke Gignac finished sixth, followed by A.J. Emms, Dale Reinhart, Jason Keen, and Jase Cornell. Craig Scott finished 11th, followed by Wally Wilson, Mark Gordon, and Bob Franks.

The next feature for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds is at Delaware Speedway on Saturday, August 17 presented by Lloyd’s Paving.
