PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — A pair of drivers got to celebrate on Sunday afternoon at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic. Andy Kamrath picked up his fourth straight feature victory, in the 50-lap event presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop, while A.J. Emms was crowned the 2019 Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modified Champion.
Anthony DiBello won the first heat ahead of Gary Elliott, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Jason Keen, A.J. Emms, Cory Horner, Bob Franks, and Bryan Batty.
Andy Kamrath won the second heat ahead of Gary McLean, Luke Gignac, Norman Newman, Chad Strawn, Rick Warnes, Wally Wilson, and Jase Cornell.
Chad Strawn won the third heat ahead of Fitzpatrick, DiBello, Newman, Elliott, McLean, Franks, and Wilson.
Cory Horner won the fourth heat ahead of Kamrath, Keen, Gignac, Cornell, Warnes, and Batty.
Come Sunday’s feature, Andy Kamrath started on pole ahead of Anthony DiBello, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Cory Horner, Chad Strawn, Jason Keen, Luke Gignac, Gary McLean, Norman Newman, A.J. Emms, Rick Warnes, Jase Cornell, Gary Elliott, Bob Franks, Bryan Batty, Wally Wilson, and Craig Downey.
Kamrath broke out to the early lead ahead of DiBello, Fitzpatrick, Strawn, Horner, Emms, Keen, McLean and Gignac, as Gignac got sideways on Lap 3. Behind him, Warnes and Elliott battled for 10th, as Newman and Cornell were side-by-side for 12th.
Fitzpatrick would get by DiBello for second on Lap 5, with Strawn coming together with DiBello’s door as he tried to follow him through. Strawn took over third, bringing Horner through with him to bump DiBello back to fifth. Emms ran sixth, followed by Keen, McLean, Gignac, Warnes, Newman, and Elliott, as Downey battled Cornell for 13th.
Downey would get the spot on Lap 11 ahead of Cornell, Franks, Batty and Wilson. The first caution then came out on Lap 20 for Newman spinning Warnes down the backstretch. Under the yellow flag, Gignac and McLean both gave up their track position to come down to the attention of their pit crews.
Kamrath got a good restart ahead of Fitzpatrick, Strawn, DiBello, Emms, Keen, Horner, Elliott, and Downey. Elliott would then move into seventh on Lap 28, bringing Downey and Newman through with him to bump Horner back to 10th ahead of McLean, Cornell, Franks, Gignac, and Batty.
Downey would then get by Elliott for seventh on Lap 30, bringing Newman through with him. The race’s second caution would come out at Lap 32 for Strawn barely getting into Fitzpatrick, causing him to go around in turn four.
The restart would see contact between Warnes and Batty, but everybody was able to keep going without issue as Kamrath stretched out his lead once again. Emms would move up to second on the restart ahead of DiBello, Keen, Newman, and Downey, as Warnes headed down pit road on Lap 35.
Gary Elliott would run seventh ahead of Gignac, Strawn, McLean, Fitzpatrick, Horner, Cornell, Franks, and Batty, as Warnes returned to the track on Lap 40. Strawn would then get alongside Elliott for seventh on Lap 41, completing the pass a lap later, bumping Elliott back to eighth ahead of McLean, Fitzpatrick, Horner, Gignac, Cornell, Franks, Batty and Wilson.
Warnes would head back down pit road on Lap 45 as both McLean and Fitzpatrick were able to get by Elliott. Horner would follow suit a lap later, bringing Gignac through with him. Horner would get loose, though, with a couple laps to go, allowing Gignac to get by him.
Andy Kamrath picked up the checkered flag ahead of A.J. Emms, Anthony DiBello, Jason Keen, and Norman Newman. Craig Downey finished sixth, followed by Chad Strawn, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Gary McLean, and Luke Gignac. Cory Horner finished 11th, followed by Gary Elliott, Jase Cornell, Bob Franks, Wally Wilson, Rick Warnes, and Bryan Batty.
