Competing in his final season of Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR competition before moving out to Nova Scotia, Gary Elliott capped off the year with a sixth-place finish in points.
The first feature of the year at Jukasa Motor Speedway would not go the way the veteran would have preferred, as he ultimately ended up with a 19th-place finish. However, he rebounded at the end of June at Sunset Speedway, battling inside the top-10 all feature long en route to eighth.
The month of July would see Elliott start off by placing 11th at Delaware Speedway, followed by a 10th-place finish at Sunset a week later. Elliott then capped off the month with a sixth-place finish at Flamboro Speedway.
The momentum carried into August with Elliott scoring a 10th-place finish at Peterborough Speedway. He then backed it up with a 12th at Delaware, followed by a ninth at Flamboro.
The playoffs would begin with Elliott being honored for his commitment to racing in Ontario and OSCAAR, with twin 36-lap features at Sunset Speedway, titled the Iron Man 72. He would place the No. 36 Quaker State Modified in 10th on Saturday night, before battling inside the top-five through the second half of Sunday’s feature to finish fourth.
He would then rebound to finish sixth at Flamboro despite having to pull off briefly under caution due to a mechanical black flag. He then capped off the season with a 12th at Peterborough.
While he was unable to hold a checkered flag in 2019, Elliott put together a solid consistent season. Though beyond that, he has made commitments to the sport that will be remembered for years to come.
