Jase Cornell

Battling hard all season long, Jase Cornell would finish the 2019 campaign ranked seventh in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modified standings.

Cornell started off the season by placing fourth and sixth in his qualifying heats at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity, but rain on Sunday prevented the feature from being run.

The first feature of the 2019 campaign would be contested at Jukasa Motor Speedway, with Cornell finishing 14th. He would show a little more speed when the series returned to Sunset, scoring an 11th-place finish in the feature.

The continued improvement came together mid-July in the series’ return to Delaware Speedway, with Cornell scoring his first top-10 of 2019 with a 10th. He then backed it up with an eighth at Sunset Speedway a week later, followed by a 10th at Flamboro Speedway.

The month of August did not start off smoothly, with Cornell being involved in a mid-race incident in the feature at Peterborough Speedway en route to placing 10th. He backed it up with another 10th at Delaware a couple weeks later, before bad luck struck big at Flamboro Speedway to complete the month. He ran into issues behind the wheel of his own No. 56 modified in qualifying, resulting in him switching over to Jeff Showler’ No. 4 entry. Cornell had a solid run going, when something let go, resulting in him crashing in turns three and four.

He would get everything squared away for the short track playoffs, starting off the Iron Man 72 with a 13th-place finish in the first 36-lap feature. He would then rebound from a mid-race spin in the second 36-lap affair on Sunday night to finish seventh.

He would hit the spin cycle once again at Flamboro Speedway, battling back to finish 11th despite going around on two occasions. He then completed the season with a 13th-place finish in the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway.

Despite a couple rough moments through the year, Jase Cornell and team continued to persevere and fight for strong finishes. They were rewarded with a solid year-end rankings.

On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations Jase on your success this season. We look forward to seeing you in 2020.
