Coming out strong with a new car for this season, Jason Keen was fast right from the initial green flag en route to placing third in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Modified standings.

Entering the season, Keen was confident based on the success that he was able to have in 2018.

“We did everything we could last year to be strong, as we worked on the car every week between races,” he said. “I think it showed up at the end of the year because at the last couple of races, we did better. I had my best finish last year at the end of the season, and we did a lot of work to get to that point.”

Right from the first full event of the season at Jukasa Motor Speedway, Keen was fast as he won his qualifying race before placing fourth in the feature. He then scored another heat win at Sunset Speedway, before rebounding from a mid-race incident to finish sixth.

He looked to carry the momentum to Delaware Speedway with another strong, but had a flat tire with eight laps to go, relegating him to a ninth-place finish. He ran into more issues when the series returned to Sunset, making a mid-race pit stop en route to placing 13th in the 50-lap feature. He then finished off the month of July with a fifth at Flamboro Speedway.

Keen was able to start off August with a ninth at Peterborough Speedway, followed by a runner-up a couple weeks later in the series’ second visit to Delaware. He also got his Flamboro redemption, winning a qualifier before placing eighth in the feature.

He started off the short track playoffs strong, winning a qualifying heat and running inside the top-five through the first 36-lap feature at Sunset en route to placing sixth. He repeated the performance a night later, capping off the Iron Man 72 with a fifth.

Despite starting off Frostoberfest strong with another heat win, Keen would find himself caught up in a couple incidents in the feature en route to placing 17th. He then capped off the 2019 campaign with a fifth at Peterborough Speedway.

Even though some weeks did not go as planned for Keen, he showed the potential that he has behind the wheel as he continues to get to know the new set of wheels underneath him from Ron Easton at Oakville Trailers.
