After seeing improvement throughout the 2019 campaign, that will continue to be the goal for Wally Wilson entering this Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified presented by Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd,, Touchwood Cabinets, and The Fyre Place & Patio Shop season.

“My thoughts entering this season are that it will be another year of progress for my team and I,” he said. “We’ve made a lot of changes in the off season, and I believe we’ll be a threat this year!”

With a new car underneath him, Wilson says the focus is finishing in the top-10 each week, with the goal of placing in the top-five of the year-end standings.

The 2020 campaign will take him across the province, including a couple return trips back to the beach.

“I’m most looking forward to Sauble Speedway being my home track,” he commented.

Last season, Wilson put together some solid runs throughout the year, en route to being named the Most Improved Driver at the banquet.

“Reflecting back on last season, I’d say we made big improvements,” he expressed. “We showed a lot more speed, just didn’t seem to have the luck!”

In hoping for more improvement, Wilson says the key will be continuing down the path and growing as a race team.

“I believe we’ve got the cars capable now, as we’re going to be fielding two cars, possibly three if all goes to plan,” he explained. “We’ve shown improvement each race we’ve been a part of, and this season we’ll be stronger than ever!”

For Wilson, he got his start behind the wheel through the Arrive and Drive program at Erbsville Kartways when he was seven-years-old. Since then, he has progressed through the ranks with experience in midgets and modifieds, which allowed him the opportunity to race against one of his heroes.

“My most memorable racing moment of my career would have to be racing against Gary Elliott,” he commented. “I’ve always been a fan of his from the first time I saw him race at Sauble when I was younger! And over the last few years, he’s been a huge help to me and my family; he’s really taken me under his wing and given me incredible advice!”

For those who are looking to get involved in racing, Wilson’s advice to them be ready for the adventure ahead.

“You’re going to have good races, bad races, and there are times you’re going to want to quit, but it’s worth it all,” he said. “You’ll meet some of the best people in your life, make incredible memories and have a blast doing it!”
