After a pair of back-to-back events at Sunset Speedway, the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It are set to take their show on the road, making their lone Sauble Speedway appearance on Saturday, August 21 for the Family Funland 40.
Notably, the track has yet to produce a repeat winner in eight previous events. Several drivers will hope that remains the same, while a couple hope to become the first to double down.
Luke Gignac will hope to keep the momentum rolling into the beach this weekend following an eighth at Sunset Speedway. Notably, he has scored three top-five’s at Sauble Speedway, including a runner-up in 2018.
Dale Reinhart is also looking to keep the positive momentum rolling, following a top-10 finish in 11 of his last 12 series starts. He enters Sauble as the defending race winner, in the series’ last appearance at the beach in August 2018. He has scored a top-seven in each of his four starts, including a pair of top-five’s.
Wally Wilson hopes to repeat past success he has had in the past at Sauble Speedway, with a pair of top-10 finishes including a track-best ninth.
Jase Cornell hopes to keep the positive momentum rolling, following a top-10 in 15 of his last 25 races. Notably, he has ran well at the beach previously with a pair of top-five’s and a top-10 in each of his last three appearances, including a track-best fourth.
Jason Keen knows how to get around Sauble Speedway, as evident with a third-place finish in his last appearance in September 2018, with an eighth prior to that. He also has currently scored a top-10 in four of his last six tour appearances.
After some time away from the series, Marshall Schrenk has made his return in 2021, and proved he has not lost his touch with a pair of sixth-place finishes.
A.J. Emms enters this weekend with only seven finishes outside the top-eight in his past 37 series starts. The driver of the No. 14 Modified has had success at Sauble Speedway previously, scoring a victory and a third in 2017.
There are several drivers in the field whom will be making their first Sauble Speedway appearance behind the wheel of a modified, which should keep things interesting.
Kelly Balson showed that he has good speed, with 10 top-five’s and 13 top-10’s in his last 17 series starts.
T.J. Edwards currently leads the Rookie of the Year standings, which surprises nobody as evident by winning the 2019 season finale at Jukasa Motor Speedway. He enters this weekend following a runner-up with previous track experience behind the wheel of a late model.
Coltin Everingham will be making his sixth start behind the wheel of a modified, but that doesn’t mean you should count him out. He scored a fifth-place finish in the season opener at Sunset Speedway.
Andy Kamrath knows what it takes to win, having picked up a checkered flag in seven of his last 10 series starts. He also has knowledge of Sauble Speedway, having grown up there with a lot of laps in a variety of cars underneath his belt.
While this will mark his first appearance behind the wheel of a modified at his home track, Norman Newman is someone to keep an eye on this weekend following a fourth at Sunset Speedway two weeks ago.
Paul Townsend will look to turn his early season bad luck around, following an 11th in the season opener, and mechanical issues causing him to not start the feature two weeks ago.
Brian Wilson will be making his modified debut this weekend, driving for Tommy Robb. While he is new to the open-wheel cars, he has plenty of laps and checkered flags at Sauble Speedway behind the wheel of a mini stock.
Bryan Batty will be making his first appearance of the 2021 campaign, hoping to do well at his home track. He scored a season-best 11th in 2019, the last time he partook on the tour.
Ryan Dick hopes to keep the good momentum rolling, following a ninth-place finish a couple weeks ago at Sunset Speedway.
These drivers are certainly looking forward to hitting Sauble Speedway this weekend. With the tracks allowed to have 75% capacity, it will be great to see the fans in the stands cheering on their favourite drivers.
Also on-track this weekend will be the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods and the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series of Ontario.
