INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling up front all feature long, Marshall Schrenk took charge just before halfway and did not look back en route to scoring his first career Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It feature victory at Sunset Speedway’s Fall Velocity.
Jason Keen won the first heat ahead of A.J. Emms, Norman Newman, Jade Franklin, Jeff Walt, Wally Wilson, and Ryan Dick.
T.J. Edwards was victorious in the second qualifier in front of Marshall Schrenk, Andy Kamrath, Kelly Balson, Dale Reinhart, Craig Downey, and Bob Franks.
Coltin Everingham picked up the checkered flag in the third race, followed by Luke Gignac, Paul Townsend, Chad Strawn, Tommy Robb, and Mike Hearty.
Andy Kamrath won the fourth heat ahead of Walt, Emms, Keen, Downey, Wilson, and Franks.
Dale Reinhart was victorious in the fifth qualifier in front of Schrenk, Edwards, Balson, Townsend, and Robb, as Everingham pulled off with issues.
Chad Strawn picked up the checkered flag in the sixth race, followed by Dick, Franklin, Newman, Hearty, and Gignac.
Come feature time, Andy Kamrath started pole in front of Marshall Schrenk, Dale Reinhart, Norman Newman, Jason Keen, TJ Edwards, A.J. Emms, Chad Strawn, Jade Franklin, Jeff Walt, Coltin Everingham, Luke Gignac, Paul Townsend, Kelly Balson, Ryan Dick, Mike Hearty, Tommy Robb, Craig Downey, Wally Wilson, Bob Franks, Jase Cornell, Tim Gordon, and Ken Hayward.
The event started off with a yellow flag, as a result of contact in turns three and four between Emms and Walt.
The second attempt to start the event was clean with Andy Kamrath grabbing the advantage ahead of Schrenk and Reinhart, as Keen and Norman battled for fourth, with Strawn and Edwards side-by-side for sixth. Keen took over the fourth spot on Lap 4 ahead of Newman, Edwards, Strawn, and Franklin. Edwards would then get alongside Newman for fifth on Lap 6, completing the pass a lap later, bringing Strawn through with him.
Franklin continued to run eighth in front of Gignac and Everingham, as the caution came out on Lap 8 for Robb having a problem. Kamrath got a good restart, but the yellow flag immediately returned for Dick going around in turn two on Lap 13. With 28 laps to go, Kamrath led Schrenk, Reinhart, Keen, Edwards, Strawn, Everingham, Newman, Balson, Downey, Gignac, Walt, Wilson, Hearty, Emms, Townsend, and Cornell.
Kamrath got a good restart in front of Schrenk, Reinhart, Keen, Strawn, Edwards, Franklin, Everingham, Newman, Gignac, and Balson. Newman would get alongside Everingham, with the pair making contact, resulting in Newman going around in turn one for the caution at Lap 18. At the same time, both Gordon and Dick would go around in turn four.
The restart would see Marshall Schrenk jump into the top spot ahead of Reinhart and Keen, with the yellow flag returning on Lap 21 for Kamrath slowing on the track with a mechanical issue.
Schrenk got a good restart to hold the advantage in front of Reinhart as Edwards jumped into third ahead of Keen and Franklin. Strawn would then get alongside Franklin for fifth on Lap 23, completing the pass a lap later, as Balson ran seventh in front of Downey, Gignac, and Walt, with Cornell heading down pit road with an issue. Edwards would get alongside Reinhart for the runner-up spot on Lap 26, taking the position a lap later.
The final 14 laps ran clean and green, with Marshall Schrenk snagging the checkered flag in front of TJ Edwards and Dale Reinhart.
As a result, T.J. Edwards hold an eight-point advantage over Kelly Balson heading into the next event.
The next event for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It is Saturday, September 25 at Delaware Speedway. The Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods and APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour will both be in action as well.
