Experiencing an up and down season where consistency became a challenge, Luke Gignac was able to score an eighth-place finish in the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It standings.
The season started off on a rough note, as starting deep in the field for the opener, he was caught up in a wreck on the opening lap after contact from a fellow competitor. He would rebound when the series returned to Sunset Speedway two weeks later, running inside the top-10 all feature long en route to eighth.
The consistency followed him to Sauble Speedway as he turned a starting spot deep in the field into running inside the top-10 for the second half of the 40-lap feature en route to seventh. He had a similar performance at Sunset Speedway’s Fall Velocity, this time allowing for a ninth.
Unfortunately, he was unable to keep it rolling at Delaware Speedway a week later, as a tire losing air through the late stages of the feature relegated Gignac back to an 11th-place finish. The team did not let that get them down, running inside the top-five early at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest, though faded back in the second half for seventh.
Despite his Autumn Colours Classic starting off on a rough note with a spin in qualifying on Friday night, he was able to run inside the top-10 throughout the whole 50-lap feature en route to placing 10th.
Even with a couple rough nights and some bad luck, Luke Giganc was able to put together a series of top-10 runs to give himself a solid finish in the standings. With being a past series champion, there’s hope in seeing the No. 99 return to the top-five in 2022 with the team’s new build.
