INNISFIL, Ontario — The busy weeks begin for the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It as they get ready for a four race stretch of events, beginning with Fall Velocity at Sunset Speedway on September 17 and 18.
As we glance through the field, there are several drivers to keep an eye on.
T.J. Edwards knows what it takes to get the job done as he is your current defending series champion, and picked up his second career feature checkered flag in July at Delaware Speedway. He has ran well at Sunset Speedway, scoring six top-10’s, including five podiums across his last six appearances.
A.J. Emms enters this weekend with only nine finishes outside of the top-eight in the past 50 series starts. The driver of the No. 14 Modified has had success at Sunset Speedway previously, having won of the series’ last seven appearances at the Innisfil oval, with a podium in the last two.
The No. 35 was in victory lane earlier this year at Sunset Speedway, courtesy of Andy Kamrath. He hopes to repeat that feat after having won five of the series’ last six events at Sunset, and a total of eight checkered flags in his last 12 series starts.
Jason Keen knows how to get to Sunset Speedway victory lane, having done so in a Canadian Vintage Modified. He hopes to do the same with his OSCAAR Modified, following four top-five’s in his last six appearances. He has been fast on the tour, picking up his first career checkered flag at Flamboro Speedway and having scored a top-10 in 14 of his last 19 tour appearances.
Dale Reinhart enters this weekend hoping to keep the ball rolling this weekend after scoring a top-five in six of his last seven tour appearances. Notably, he has also scored a top-10 finish in 20 of his last 24 series starts. The Innisfil, Ontario track has treated him well with just five finishes worse than fourth in his last 13 starts, including a runner-up at the 2018 Fall Velocity.
Wally Wilson hopes to be in the thick of the action this weekend, aiming for a top-10 performance. Notably, he scored a track-best eighth at sunset Speedway in 2020, and only has five finishes worse than 12th in his eight Innisfil, Ontario oval appearances.
Marshall Schrenk hopes to get back inside the top-10 this weekend after scoring a 12th-place finish at Flamboro Speedway. He has ran well at Sunset Speedway previously, scoring no finishes worse than sixth in his five tour appearances including a 2021 Fall Velocity victory.
Luke Gignac will hope to turn things around after just missing the top-10 in the series’ most recent event at Flamboro Speedway. He has scored a top-10 in four of his last five Sunset Speedway appearances.
Paul Townsend is no stranger to the modifieds, having raced them across the United States previously. He has started to find some momentum this year, with a top-10 in his last two series appearances. He scored a track-best finish of 10th at Sunset Speedway in July.
Jake Watson has been solid this season so far, scoring a fifth-place finish in the series’ most recent event at Flamboro Speedway. He’ll aim for another top-five performance this weekend after placing ninth and eighth in his most recent Sunset Speedway appearances.
Tommy Robb will hope to get back in the top-10 this weekend after failing to do so in his last three series appearances. He has been able to Sunset Speedway previously, scoring two top-10’s in three races this season.
Tyler Liscum hopes the bad luck that plagued the team is behind them following back-to-back top-10 finishes on the tour. He picked a ninth place finish at Sunset back in July.
Herb Walters saw his feature end early at Flamboro Speedway, and hopes to turn things back around after impressing everyone with a fourth at Sunset Speedway in May.
Mike Hearty looks to return to the top-10 this weekend, following a 13th-place finish in his most recent series appearance. Outside of that event, though, he has scored a top-10 in his other three events, including a sixth at Sunset Speedway in May.
Bryan Batty carries momentum into the weekend, with a top-10 in his four series appearances this season, including a pair of fifths.
Shawn Murray will hope to run inside the top-10 at Sunset Speedway this weekend, after placing 11th in his series debut at Sunset in June.
