INNISFIL, Ontario — After excitement across the province this year, the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Just Foam It are ready for Fall Velocity at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18.
A.J. Emms enters this weekend with only nine finishes outside of the top-eight in the past 50 series starts. The driver of the No. 14 Modified has had success at Sunset Speedway previously, having won of the series’ last seven appearances at the Innisfil oval, with a podium in the last two.
“I’m excited to get back to Sunset,” Emms said. “The race track is close to home for us. We’ve had some success there in the past. It would be great to win at Fall Velocity, and again, just hope to keep the car in one piece and hope for another solid run. We’ve been really fortunate with a lot of top-three finishes this year and hopefully we can continue with that momentum and get a win.”
Jason Keen knows how to get to Sunset Speedway victory lane, having done so in a Canadian Vintage Modified. He hopes to do the same with his OSCAAR Modified, following four top-five’s in his last six appearances. He has been fast on the tour, picking up his first career checkered flag at Flamboro Speedway and having scored a top-10 in 14 of his last 19 tour appearances.
“We have struggled at Sunset Speedway in the past,” Keen admitted. “So I am hoping to build on the success that we had at Flamboro and have fun.”
Tommy Robb will hope to get back in the top-10 this weekend after failing to do so in his last three series appearances. He has been able to Sunset Speedway previously, scoring two top-10’s in three races this season.
“Definitely looking forward to the start of the playoffs at Sunset,” Robb said. “We’ve had a tough year with wrecks and straight up struggles. We definitely are better then what I’ve been able to show but sunsets been the best for us this season. So I’m looking forward to getting our program back on the rails as playoff season starts.”
Tyler Liscum hopes the bad luck that plagued the team is behind them following back-to-back top-10 finishes on the tour. He picked a ninth place finish at Sunset back in July.
“After being out of the driver seat for almost four years, it been a lot harder getting back to where I think we should be,” Liscum admitted. “I can’t thank Kent and Russel enough for giving me this opportunity. We are excited to get back to our home track Sunset Speedway!! The modified division has an amazing bunch of drivers!!”
